Gerry McCluskey
Working for Family Routes, a voluntary social work agency, Gerry McCluskey has a particular interest in the broad range of different ways in which families are formed, the issues of belonging, connection, identity, loss and fulfilment which relate to the pursuit of family life whatever its form. Working as a Fertility Counsellor, she has a specific interest in donor conception, having gone on to organise several conferences entitled Becoming a Family with the help of a Donor Qualifying in social work in 1983, Gerry has held a variety of practitioner and management posts in Family and Child Care and Family Placement in the statutory and voluntary sectors. Within Family Routes, she provides training, statutory adoption services and counselling/intermediary work for adult adoptees and birth families, counselling for birth parents whose children have been placed for adoption and fertility counselling for NHS and private patients.
Gerry’s qualifications include: MSW, Advanced Diploma in PC Counselling, Relate Certificate in Couple Counselling. She is a registered member of BACP, accredited with BICA, a member of the BICA’s Training Team and the IFCA.
